Virginia Evans is an American novelist whose debut, The Correspondent (2025), became a New York Times bestseller and was selected as the winner of the 2026 PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel. She was also nominated for the Goodreads Choice Awards and the Libby Award for Debut Author of the Year. Celebrated for its lyrical, epistolary storytelling, the novel explores themes of connection, memory, and the human heart. Praised by authors such as Ann Patchett, Evans is recognized for her emotional depth, elegant prose, and subtle narrative style. She holds an MPhil in Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin and is currently at work on her next novel, further establishing her as one of the most compelling emerging writers of her generation. She lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with her husband, two children, and her red Labrador, Brigid.
