Percival Everett is an award-winning author celebrated for his genre-defying storytelling, sharp wit, and bold explorations of race, identity, and American culture. With a prolific career spanning over 30 books, Everett masterfully blends satire, philosophy, and emotional depth. His 2024 novel James reimagines The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of Jim, Huck’s friend and an escaped slave. The book garnered widespread acclaim, winning the National Book Award, the Kirkus Prize, and being named a New York Times “10 Best Books of 2024” and Barnes & Noble’s Book of the Year. Everett is also known for Erasure, which inspired the Academy Award–winning film American Fiction, as well as The Trees, a Booker Prize finalist and New York Times bestseller, and Dr. No, winner of the PEN/Jean Stein Book Award.
